Maia Waern at The Barns June 15 2019
June 15, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Stop’s Farmers’ Market at Wychwood Barns is more than a place to buy seasonal food and meet local farmers, families, neighbours and friends. It’s also a place to see live music performed at arms’ length!
When I play at The Barns on Saturday, June 15th (9am-1pm), I won’t just be bringing my ‘main squeeze’ ukulele – I’ll also bring a few extra ukuleles – for all sizes of fingers to try.
And I won’t just play my original, family-friendly songs about loving nature and neighbourhood-living in the Toronto’s West End – I’ll also play dusty, old classic rock, as well as kid-friendly sing-a-longs.
It’d be a good time to ask me about ukulele (or Loog guitar) lessons for all ages, if you happen to be looking for an unstructured teacher who smiles a lot and prefers positive lyrics…
And if you have kids, and a CD player in your car, and a road trip in your future, my 2017 ukulele album, Listen To The Wind (44 minutes) (on sale for $10), was recently praised as being a ‘soother of (3) children’ during car rides. Best album review ever!
Here’s to the comfort of kind words, community spirit, and neighbourhood connections that make the world seem sweetly smaller than it was when I first learned to sing the Alphabet Song. Next time, won’t you sing with me?
